Upon graduation from Newport News Public School System, Al Young worked for several years at Newport News Shipbuilding. He founded Dot’s Cleaning and Maid Service, Inc. in 1970. Al credits his success as a small business owner to creating a vision and a plan, and knowing how to execute them. His experience, attention to detail, and customer focus are what set him apart from his competitors.
Brian L. Young
Vice President
Brian Young attended Valley Forge Military College where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. After graduation, Brian transferred to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He was then selected for active duty as a combat arms officer in the United States Army, Field Artillery Branch. During his time on active duty, Brian received his Master of Arts Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Brian served in the Army for 10 years before deciding to apply his education and experience to the corporate world. He further developed his leadership skills in two Fortune 500 Companies before relocating to the Virginia Peninsula to assume management of the Dot's family business. DOT'S COMPANY HISTORY
Alphonso and Dorothy Young of Newport News, Virginia, founded Dot’s Cleaning and Maid Service in 1970. The company began operations by providing housekeeping services for the Briarfield Apartment complex in the City of Newport News. Dot’s Cleaning became incorporated in 1975. In 1978, Dot’s Cleaning began its work with the now elite Kingsmill On The James Golf Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.Dot’s Cleaning maintained a professional contract with Kingsmill for 16 years. While at Kingsmill, Dot’s Cleaning employed 35 cleaning specialists. In 1994, Ford’s Colony of Williamsburg approached Dot’s Cleaning for its exceptional work, and their relationship continued for 11 years.
Al and Dot have maintained professional contracts with the City of Newport News, Kingsmill Golf Resort, and Ford’s Colony of Williamsburg for over 35 years. They achieved this by applying exceptional industry standards, environmentally sound products, and esteemed customer care to their business practices. Dot’s Cleaning Service continues to apply those same principles, serving local small businesses, new construction home sites, and residences throughout the Virginia Peninsula and Hampton Roads region. |
